People often ask me what type of event is my favorite to plan and it’s always a question that puzzles me. To tell you the truth, one of the best parts about my job is that every day that I go to work, I get to put my talents and creative energy into completely different projects. In the Fall and Winter, my team gets to work with brands to plan launches, store openings and media events, in the Spring and Summer we get to execute weddings that we’ve worked on for over a year and get to be a part of such a special and happy time in a couple and family’s life!
On a personal note, since I was a little girl I’ve always loved style, fashion and design. The idea that you can have the opportunity to reinvent yourself ever morning depending on your mood, where you are and what is currently inspiring you is fascinating to me and i’ve always said that if I wasn’t working in events, I’d be working in fashion. I love that over the years I’ve had a chance to work with some incredible and iconic fashion brands and it’s definitely exciting to evolve an event for a fashion brand the way that styles change and evolve every season. Last month I had the opportunity to go on an incredible adventure with my friend and fashion blogger Meagan of Living Boldly to visit with clients, brands and PR agencies for Fashion Week!
From an event production perspective, seeing all of the shows that are produced in a day at the same venue by so many iconic labels was awesome. I loved how every brand put their touches on the same venue and were able to turn around a completely different runway within an hour. It was one of the most hectic weeks from shows to events and showroom appointments there was hardly a moment to breathe. Seriously though-fashion week is not for the faint of heart!
The first day we got to NYC, the weather was COLD…I was really excited to wear my fringe skirt that my friend and celeb stylist Gemma Lagden helped me pick out. Of course I figured I could brave the weather in the name of fashion, right? Wrong! I almost died after that first day and needless to say, I opted for tights the rest of the week. I was able to snap these photos on the steps of Moynihan Station before heading into the BCBG show(where all of the major shows were held) before running inside and ordering an extra hot (skimhalfsweet) vanilla latte.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing with you about my fashion week experiences in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. From the outfits I wore, the brands I met and the events I was a part of, I’m excited to share the journey with you!
